Sandro Tonali is now Newcastle United's quickest Premier League debut goalscorer following his strike against Aston Villa on the opening day of the 2023/24 season

The summer signing from AC Milan netted just six minutes into his Premier League bow for the Magpies, overtaking Joe Willock - who struck after 16 minutes of his United league bow two years ago - and Alex Mathie who scored against Sheffield Wednesday 19 minutes after coming off the bench for his league debut in 1993.

Harvey Barnes also got in on the act later in the same match as Tonali, scoring 23 minutes after coming on as a substitute against Villa on Saturday and becoming the 14th man to hit the target on his first Premier League appearance for United.

Stéphane Guivarc'h needed just 28 minutes to score on his top flight debut against Liverpool in 1998 - although it turned out to be his only strike in black and white - while Alexander Isak bagged against the same opponents 38 minutes into his debut at Anfield last season.

As well as Willock, Isak and Barnes, Tonali's team-mates Callum Wilson and Jeff Hendrick also netted on their Premier League bows for the Magpies.
