Newcastle United will be led out by a number of very special mascots from the Great North Children’s Hospital today when they face Sheffield Wednesday at St. James’ Park (kick-off 7:45pm GMT).

Brave youngsters Frankie Sherwood, aged three, and Hope-Louise Feeney, five - who have captured the country’s hearts as they continue to battle neuroblastoma - will be joined by fellow patient Mason Williams, six, for a special festive treat at the home of the Magpies.

The children will meet the players in the dressing room before kick-off before leading the teams out in front of a capacity crowd and the Sky Sports cameras, as well as enjoying special hospitality in the Chairman’s Suite with their families.

Supporters will also be able to see Frankie, Hope and Mason at half-time, when they come onto the pitch for some playtime.

The Great North Children’s Hospital in Newcastle is one of only 14 major children’s medical centres in the country, with expert staff providing specialist care to thousands of youngsters each year.

Rafa Benítez and his players paid a visit to the hospital and a number of other sites across the region last week, taking time to meet patients, their families and staff as well as providing Christmas gifts.

Everyone at Newcastle United would also like to extend their warmest wishes to young Sunderland supporter Bradley Lowery and his family.

Bradley had been invited to come along to St. James’ Park in his Black Cats kit but is unable to attend today due to family commitments.
