The Magpies welcome the Hornets to St. James’ Park (3pm kick-off) hoping to record a second straight league victory, following last weekend’s 1-0 win at Tottenham Hotspur.
And 51-year-old Scott – a top-flight official since November 2014 – will take charge of the contest, which is United’s final game before the first two-week international break of the campaign.
It will be the Oxfordshire official’s second outing of the season, after he oversaw Burnley’s 3-0 victory over Southampton earlier this month. He kept his cards pocketed on that occasion.
Last term, Scott refereed 29 matches across the Premier League, Championship, FA Cup, Carabao Cup and League Two, dishing out 70 yellow cards and just three reds in total.
He was the man in the middle of two Newcastle fixtures in 2018/19 – the 4-0 defeat to Liverpool at Anfield on Boxing Day and the 1-1 draw at Wolves in February, in which he booked Jamaal Lascelles, Fabian Schär and Matt Ritchie along with the hosts’ Diogo Jota.
On Saturday, he will be assisted by Neil Davies and Adrian Holmes, while Michael Salisbury will be the fourth official.
VAR responsibilities will be taken by Craig Pawson, who will be assisted by Richard West.
