Wideman joins the Trotters following release from Newcastle

The 25-year-old winger spent a successful loan spell at the Macron Stadium last season, scoring four times in 24 appearances before returning to Newcastle.

However, he left St. James' Park at the end of his contract and has now linked up with the Trotters once more.

He has signed a one-year deal and told Bolton's official website: "It feels great to be back. I'm very familiar with Bolton now.

"The gaffer (Phil Parkinson) was massive for me last season. He helped me rebuild my confidence and I believe he gets the best out of me.

"Everyone was patient with me and it gave me the opportunity to start playing again. I'm really thankful for that and hopefully I can repay them this season."

Ameobi progressed from the Newcastle United Academy and made 71 first-team appearances for the Magpies, scoring four times.

Everybody at Newcastle wishes him well for the future.
