United welcome the Foxes in their first outing in this season’s competition, with Robinson appointed as the man in the middle as Steve Bruce’s side go in search of a first home victory of the campaign at St. James’ Park.
Robinson, from Middleton-on-Sea, worked his way up the English football ladder from local Sussex leagues through to the National League, before becoming a Football League official in 2012 and turning professional in 2016.
It will be the first time Robinson has taken charge of a Newcastle fixture since their Championship title-winning campaign in 2016/17, when he sent off Vurnon Anita during a 2-0 home defeat to Wolves.
That season, he also refereed the 2-2 draw against Queens Park Rangers at St. James’ Park and the 3-1 defeat at Ipswich Town.
So far this term, Robinson has dished out 15 yellow cards in his three outings, which all came in the Championship. He is yet to issue his first red card of 2019/20.
He will be assisted by Ian Cooper and Andrew Fox on Wednesday, while Martin Woods will be the fourth official.
