Chris Kavanagh will referee Newcastle United's Premier League game at Wolverhampton Wanderers on Sunday afternoon (kick-off 4:30pm BST).

United return to domestic action following the international break with a clash with Wolves at Molineux, with 39-year-old Kavanagh set to oversee the contest as the Magpies look to maintain their unbeaten start to the new campaign.

The Ashton-under-Lyne-born official spent three years as an EFL referee prior to his top flight debut in 2017, having first began officiating in his early teens.

Since then, he has taken charge of a Championship play-off final in 2021 as well as last season's Carabao Cup final between Liverpool and Chelsea. For the past five years, he has been on FIFA's list of international referees.

So far this term, Kavanagh has refereed two European fixtures - one in the Europa League, and one in the Conference League - as well as two Premier League games.
