Charlyann Pizzarello signed for Newcastle United Women after the turn of the year and has impressed so far in a black and white shirt

The Gibraltar international has demonstrated her experience and quality, assisting the Lady Magpies in keeping pace with FA Women's National League Division One North leaders Durham Cestria.

As Becky Langley's side approach the run-in, Pizzarello says that Newcastle's supporters will be more important than ever as the Lasses strive for success come the end of the season.

"It's amazing to see how many Geordies come together to support the women's side of Newcastle United," she said told nufc.co.uk.

"You can tell the togetherness of the club by the supporters, and it's absolutely brilliant to see and be a part of.

"They are the 12th player, so they hold such an important aspect of our journey and have been amazing so far."

As well as the supporters, Pizzarello was quick to praise the togetherness in the Newcastle squad, adding that she's "growing" at the club.

"They've been absolutely incredible so far," she said of her team-mates. "I have really enjoyed growing as a footballer player under Becky, so it's been a great start to a good future I'd say.

"The girls are playing well, jumping on board with the goals we've set as a team and making sure we train hard, recover right and stay focused on the end goal, as well as enjoying the journey we are on together at the moment."

Reflecting on her opening few months on Tyneside, Pizzarello says that her experience of playing for Newcastle has been far beyond her initial expectations.

"It's more than what I expected with I signed," she admitted. "It's not just about the team, it's about the players, the staff and supporters.

"You can tell how invested everyone is around the women's team and it's so nice to be a part of it. I genuinely believe this team has something special."

Newcastle United Women's next match is a home clash versus Leeds United Women at Druid Park, with kick-off set for 2pm (GMT).

Tickets are available on the gate at a price of £3 for adults and £1 for children and concessions.
