Newcastle United Under-18s suffered a 5-1 defeat against their Manchester United counterparts in the Under-18 Premier League North on Saturday.

The Toon Teenagers conceded three times in the opening half at the Magpies' Little Benton Academy, with Red Devils striker Gabriele Biancheri netting twice before James Scanlon extended the visitors' advantage before the half-time whistle.

Guy Bloomer, who made his debut for Newcastle's under-21 side during an EFL Trophy clash against Bradford City earlier this month, reduced the deficit for the young Magpies before substitute Amir Ibragimov's penalty regained Man United's three-goal cushion.

Jim Thwaites' netted Man United's fifth of the afternoon in the closing stages, with the teenager's close-range finish rounding off a difficult afternoon for United's youngsters.

Newcastle United Under-18s: Tyler Jones, Ezra-Tika Lemba (Morgan 40), Henry Johnson, Logan Watts, Luke Craggs, Guy Bloomer, Anthony Munda, Matthew Taylor (Gilligan 23), Kacey Wooster (Sam Alabi 46), Michael Mills (Patterson 83), Joe Brayson.
