After a goalless first-half at the Magpies' Little Benton Academy, the Toon teenagers trailed eight minutes after the restart following Frankie Coulson's strike.

Mason Miley, brother of Lewis and Jamie, was introduced in the latter stages of the league encounter but the young Magpies were unable to grab an all-important equaliser as their North east neighbours prevailed in a narrow contest.

Newcastle United's youngsters are back in Under-18 Premier League North action on Saturday, 24th August when hosting Derby County (kick-off 1pm BST).
