Newcastle United forward Tom Heardman has signed a new one-year deal at the club – but will spend the 2017/18 season on loan at League One side Bury.

The 21-year-old has put pen to paper on a new deal which will keep him at St. James’ Park until the summer of 2018.

And Gosforth-born Heardman, who scored eight goals for the Magpies’ Under-23 team last term, has linked up with the Shakers on a season-long loan deal which will see him continue his development at Gigg Lane until the end of the League One campaign.

The tall frontman has previously enjoyed spells out on loan at National League side Gateshead in 2014, and in League Two with Hartlepool United during the first half of the 2016/17 campaign.

Bury are managed by former United midfielder Lee Clark.
