The Nottinghamshire-based referee had been due to officiate the fixture in March before the Premier League was suspended due to the coronavirus outbreak.
Sunday's match will be Coote's third game involving the Magpies this term. He took charge of December's victory over Southampton, booking four players including Newcastle's Jonjo Shelvey at St. James' Park, as well as United's Emirates FA Cup third round tie at Rochdale in January, where he showed one yellow card.
In total, Coote has refereed 22 games across the Premier League, Championship, FA Cup and Carabao Cup and, despite handing out 85 yellow cards, has only shown one red so far this term.
On Sunday, Coote will be assisted by Gary Beswick and Nick Hopton, while Darren England will be the fourth official. Peter Bankes will be the video assistant referee and he will be aided by Harry Lennard.
While supporters will not be able to attend, the match will be broadcast live on Sky Sports.
