Lancashire referee to take charge of Spurs visit

The Lancashire-based official has already taken charge of three games involving the Magpies this season - the 3-0 Premier League win against West Ham in August, December's defeat against Leicester and January's Emirates FA Cup victory over Luton Town.

In all, he's been the man in the middle on 24 occasions this term, showing 66 yellow cards. He has yet to send a player off this season.

Swarbrick took up refereeing at the relatively late age of 29, but within six years had been promoted to the national list of assistant referees. He became a Select Group referee for the 2011/12 campaign.

He's no stranger to Wembley, having been the fourth official when Crystal Palace defeated Watford in the Championship play-off final in 2013 and performing the same role when Manchester City beat Sunderland in the following season's Capital One Cup final.

On Wednesday night, he will be assisted by Scott Ledger and Richard West. Martin Atkinson will be the fourth official.
