Lee Mason will referee Newcastle United’s Premier League clash at West Ham United on Saturday.

Lancashire referee Mason has been appointed for the fixture at the London Stadium, which will be the Magpies’ first visit to the Hammers’ new ground.

It will be the 46-year-old’s 12th outing of the season so far, with Mason having taken charge of top flight matches as well as a couple of Championship games.

In those games, he has brandished a total of 25 yellow cards, and two reds – to the Hammers’ Marko Arnautovic in their 3-2 defeat at Southampton in August, and to Watford’s Tom Cleverley in their 2-1 loss at Crystal Palace earlier this month.

The last United game Mason oversaw was the 3-0 win over Swansea City in April 2016, when goals from Jamaal Lascelles, Moussa Sissoko and Andros Townsend gave Rafa Benítez’s side the points.

He will be assisted by Harry Lennard and Constantine Hatzidakis on Saturday, and Stuart Attwell will be the fourth official.
