Martin, from Staffordshire, has refereed 16 games so far this season, including the Magpies’ 2-0 EFL Cup tie against Cheltenham Town at St. James’ Park in August.

He has handed out 40 yellow cards this term – though he has yet to send a player off.

Martin’s last outing came at Chester’s Deva Stadium on Tuesday night, where he oversaw the Blues’ 3-0 Vanarama National League win over North Ferriby United without brandishing a card of either colour.

His fellow officials at the City Ground have been announced as Ian Cooper, David Avent and Andy Woolmer.
