Javier Manquillo says he's "delighted" to have passed the one hundred appearances mark in the Premier League

The Spanish defender, who turned 27 on Wednesday, made his landmark appearance against Southampton in February and recently received a commemorative presentation box containing a special medallion and engraved plaque.

The league has partnered with Coca-Cola to recognise players who reach 100 appearances, as well as every century mark after that.

Manquillo has since made three more appearances, bringing his overall Premier League total to 103 - with 73 of them coming during his time at Newcastle United. He has also played for Liverpool and Sunderland in England's top flight, as well as playing in La Liga for Atlético Madrid and Ligue 1 for Marseille.

Manquillo, who joined United in the summer of 2017, has also made ten cup appearances for the Magpies. He signed a new four-year contract last June.

Speaking to nufc.co.uk as he received his award, Manquillo said: "I'm really happy, of course.

"As a youngster, I never thought that I'd achieve something like this, and I guess every footballer would love to have made one hundred appearances in the Premier League as it's the best league in the world.

"So I'm delighted - and let's hope there are many more of them to come!".
