Full back Javier Manquillo racked up his half century of Newcastle United appearances last month – and he’s the player in focus inside Sunday’s official matchday programme for the visit of Southampton.

Manquillo’s 50th outing for the Magpies came in the 2-2 draw with Manchester City in November, in which he played a part in United’s second goal, winning the free kick that was cut back to Jonjo Shelvey for the equaliser.

And there is an exclusive interview with the 25-year-old in the latest issue of UNITED, as Steve Bruce’s side look to extend their six-game unbeaten home run against fourth-bottom Saints.

There’s plenty more inside Sunday’s programme too, as former full back Paul Sweeney – who made his debut against Saints after joining from Raith Rovers – looks back at this time in black and white in this week's Flying Visit.

Defender Fabian Schär discusses hand-washing habits, Swiss cheese and swapping places with Bill Gates as he takes part in the Toon Tombola.

In a special feature, we pay tribute to all of those who played their part in the Magpies' Inter-Cities Fairs Cup triumph 50 years ago on a day where many of the squad return to St. James' Park to mark the milestone.

Club historian Paul Joannou remembers how the Magpies and Sunday's opponents helped set a trend for English clubs touring abroad when they both headed out to Denmark at the end of the 1903/04 campaign.

We also get to find out a little bit more about young winger Víctor Fernández in this week's High Hopes.

And there is more reaction to last week's thrilling draw against Manchester City at St. James' Park, while captain Jamaal Lascelles and head coach Bruce pen their regular columns.
