Three awards were handed out this week as Nick Pope claimed the Premier League's Castrol Save of the Month award for his stop in the draw away to Brighton & Hove Albion, while Allan Saint-Maximin's stunning volley against Wolves was named as the Goal of the Month for August.

And Dan Burn was recognised after making his 100th Premier League appearance in the opening game of the season when the Magpies beat Nottingham Forest 2-0 at St. James' Park on the opening day of the campaign.

Honouring the awards, high achieving pupils from one of Newcastle United Foundation's partner schools were invited to the club's Training Centre to present the players with their trophies and medals from the Premier League.

Speaking on his Save of the Month Award, Pope commented: "It's really nice to win the award and especially for the save to have contributed towards the point and a clean sheet. It was very quick - as the cross comes in you have a decision of what to do as a goalkeeper and thankfully I got into position and reacted to the header and made the save around the post.

"Having young achievers from the Foundation along to present the awards was a nice touch and I hope they continue to work hard and keep performing well in their school programmes."

Millie, 13, who has taken part in a number of projects through the Foundation for two years, presented Burn with his 100 Premier League appearances medal and added: "It was really good to meet some of the players and especially giving Dan Burn his award because I play in defence too. It was a great experience presenting the awards and I can't wait to tell my friends."

Newcastle United Foundation work with a number of schools across the region, where the charity's extensive education programme engages with young people, with full time staff providing learning and intervention opportunities for teenagers in secondary education.
