Newcastle United have been handed a home tie against Crystal Palace in the Carabao Cup third round

United made sure their name would be in the hat with a 2-1 win at Tranmere Rovers on Wednesday night, with goals from Jamaal Lascelles and Chris Wood sealing the victory at Prenton Park.

And their reward is a clash with Patrick Vieira's men, who are set to arrive on Tyneside for a Premier League game on Saturday, 3rd September, at St. James' Park.

The Magpies have faced the Eagles once before in the same competition, winning 3-2 at Selhurst Park in September 2014 after Paul Dummett headed in an extra-time winner.

All round three ties are set to take place on the week beginning Monday, 7th November. Confirmation of the fixture date and subsequent ticket details will be announced in due course.
