The Magpies stopper's sensational intervention from Wolves' Matheus Cunha in the closing minutes helped ensure victory for Eddie Howe's men at Molineux, with Pope diving full stretch to his right to keep out the Brazilian's header and seal a 2-1 win for United.

It was a superb stop from the England custodian, whose early-season form earned him a recall to the England squad for September's round of international fixtures.

He is nominated for the award alongside Arijanet Muric of Ipswich Town, Andre Onana of Manchester United, Guglielmo Vicario of Tottenham Hotspur, Leicester City's Mads Hermansen and Emiliano Martinez of Aston Villa.
