It is the first time young forward Armstrong – who impressed on loan at Blackburn Rovers last season – has received a call-up at under-21 level, while goalkeeper Woodman, who spent time on loan at Aberdeen in 2017/18, will be hoping to add to his two caps in France later this month.
Aidy Boothroyd’s side go in search of a third title in as many years when the tournament kicks off a week on Saturday (26th May), with the Young Lions set to take on China at Aubagne’s Stade de Lattre in Group A.
England will then face Mexico in Salon three days later, before a final group game against Qatar at Fos-sur-Mer’s Stade Parsemain on Friday, 1st June.
Should Boothroyd’s youngsters progress, they could be in action until Saturday, 9th of June, when the final is due to take place.
