The Newcastle United forward, who is on loan at the Eerste Divisie side until the end of the season, started for the Dutch outfit in their league clash at De Vijverberg.
And after Elmo Lieftink opened the scoring for the hosts, Sørensen managed to pull his side level, firing home with his favoured right foot to level the scores on the stroke of half time.
Thomas Verheydt headed City in front just a minute before the United loanee was withdrawn on the hour, but they couldn’t quite hold on to their lead as Jesse Schuurman equalised five minutes into stoppage time salvage a draw.
Sørensen, 21, has made 21 appearances in Holland so far this term, providing four assist as well as his five goals in the Netherlands’ second tier.
Meanwhile, it was a good weekend for goalkeeper Freddie Woodman, as Swansea City booked their place in the Championship play-offs with a 2-2 draw at Reading.
Woodman started for Steve Cooper’s Swans, who had looked set to win 2-1 before Tomas Esteves’ last-gasp equaliser for the Royals.
The point sealed Cooper’s side’s place in the top six, though, and Woodman has enjoyed a fruitful campaign at the Liberty Stadium, making 47 appearances in all competitions and keeping an impressive 21 clean sheets.
And in Spain, defender Florian Lejeune helped Alaves move a step closer to La Liga safety as they drew 1-1 with Valencia.
The Frenchman played the full game for the Spanish side, with John Guidetti giving them an 84th-minute lead at the Mestalla before Jose Gaya’s dramatic late strike rescued a point for the hosts.
Lejeune has been a mainstay of the Alaves side this term, making 31 outings and scoring once.
The only other Newcastle loanee in action over the weekend was young defender Kelland Watts, who made a late substitute appearance as a replacement for the injured Sam Woods as his Plymouth Argyle side lost 3-1 at Oxford United.
It has been a solid season for the 21-year-old overall, though, who has bagged three goals in 48 games for Ryan Lowe’s men.
