newcastleunited.com rounds up the weekend's action involving the Magpies' loanees - with two players experiencing very different fortunes over the last few days

Ryan Fraser

It was a weekend to remember for winger Ryan Fraser, who brought the curtain down on his season-long loan spell at Southampton by helping the Saints secure promotion back to the Premier League at Wembley.

Russell Martin's men faced Leeds United under the arch in the Championship play-off final on Sunday, with Scotland international Fraser handed a start.

There wasn't much between the sides but in the end it was former Magpie Adam Armstrong's winner that secured a 1-0 victory for the Saints, with Fraser - who was booked in the closing stages of the first half - playing 70 minutes before being replaced by Che Adams.

Promotion caps a good year for Fraser, who made a total of 44 appearances for Martin's men during his time on the South Coast. He also registered eight goals and three assists in a red and white shirt.

Rodrigo Vilca

Peruvian midfielder Vilca endured a somewhat less memorable weekend in Serbia, as FK Vozdovac suffered relegation from the Serbian Super Liga despite his goal against Radnik Surdulica.

After coming off the bench with 12 minutes remaining and the score level at 2-2, Vilca's deflected drive put the home side in front and completed their comeback from two goals down - but it wasn't enough to save them, as results elsewhere confirmed their relegation.

The 25-year-old finished the season having made 18 appearances during his time in Serbia, with two goals to his name.
