Jacob Murphy bagged his first goal for loan club West Bromwich Albion on Tuesday night, kick-starting the Baggies’ fightback in their 2-2 draw with Nottingham Forest.

Murphy started alongside fellow United loanee Dwight Gayle at the Hawthorns, with another Magpies man – midfielder Jack Colback – in Forest’s starting XI.

It was the visitors who took an early lead through Stefan Johansen’s own goal, and after the break Ryan Yates’ strike looked to have made sure of the points for Martin O’Neill’s men with 25 minutes remaining.

But Murphy’s effort from close range brought West Brom back into the contest in the 70th minute, as he slotted home after a scramble in the Forest box.

And in the final moments of the game, Darren Moore’s side levelled the scores from the spot. Gayle was adjudged to have been brought down by Alexander Milosevic, and Jay Rodriguez stepped up to fire home the penalty to earn the home side a share of the spoils.

All three Newcastle loanees played the full 90 minutes of the Championship clash, with West Brom now in fourth spot and Forest in ninth.

Meanwhile, both Rolando Aarons and Achraf Lazaar were unused substitutes for Sheffield Wednesday as they drew 0-0 at Millwall, while Elias Sørensen didn’t get off the bench in Blackpool’s 1-1 draw at Sunderland in League One.

And in League Two, Jamie Sterry was among the substitutes for Crewe Alexandra as they beat Carlisle United 2-1.
