How Newcastle United's loan men fared on Tuesday night, with one of them scoring in the Championship

Jeff Hendrick

The Republic of Ireland international scored his first Reading goal on Tuesday night as the Royals drew with Norwich City in the Sky Bet Championship.

He drilled home from the edge of the box on the hour mark to cancel out a 50th-minute opener from former Magpie Grant Hanley and keep the Canaries off top spot in the division.

Reading, meanwhile, stayed in third, with Hendrick playing the full game in what was his 12th appearance of the campaign for Paul Ince's side. The 30-year-old spent the second half of last term with Queens Park Rangers, with his most recent appearance for Newcastle coming as a late substitute in December's 4-0 home defeat to eventual champions Manchester City.

Dan Langley

Elsewhere on Tuesday night, Langley was in goal for Gateshead as they lost 3-1 at home to Altrincham in the National League - a result which leaves the Heed in 17th position following promotion last term. Langley, 21, has played in nine of their 12 league matches after missing the beginning of the campaign through injury.

Matty Longstaff

Longstaff's Colchester United were in Papa John's Trophy action, but the Newcastle loanee was rested for the U's 2-1 win against Charlton Athletic. The 22-year-old joined the League Two club on the last day of the transfer window and has started five times for them so far.
