Midfielder scores for Stanley in Checkatrade Trophy win

Daniel Barlaser scored his first goal for Accrington Stanley in their 4-1 victory over Macclesfield Town - and he opened his account in style.

In stoppage time, the former England under-18 international picked up the ball 25 yards from goal and ghosted into the box before drilling home.

The 21-year-old midfielder was making his fourth start for Stanley in all competitions and his seventh appearance in all.

His Newcastle team-mate Luke Charman - who also joined the Lancashire club on loan back in August - is still waiting for his debut due to injury.

Meanwhile, Josef Yarney played the full game for Morecambe as they lost 2-1 to Stoke City's under-21 side. The defender was one of only three survivors from Saturday's league defeat to Tranmere Rovers and played the full game against the Potters.

The 21-year-old, who featured for Rafa Benítez's first team in pre-season, has made 13 starts in all competitions this term.
