Haris Vuckic struck a brace but was unable to prevent his Bradford City side losing narrowly at Morecambe in the Checkatrade Trophy last night.

The Slovenian had given the Bantams the lead shortly after the break at the Globe Arena, only for the hosts to equalise just two minutes later through Paul Mullin.

Cole Stockton then put the Shrimps in command with two quick-fire goals, with Vuckic's second late on amounting to little more than a consolation.

Elsewhere, Macaulay Gillesphey clocked up 90 minutes as Carlisle United saw off Fleetwood Town to seal a record-breaking eighth consecutive win. A 4-2 victory at Brunton Park made sure of the feat, surpassing the achievements of the Cumbrians' 1996-97 side.

In Group D of the Southern Section, Jamie Sterry was withdrawn at half-time as Coventry City fought back from two goals down to record a 4-2 win at Wycombe Wanderers. Former Magpie Gael Bigirimana was on target for the Sky Blues, who maintained their 100% record in the competition.Tom Heardman, meanwhile, did not feature as Hartlepool United were beaten 2-1 by Rochdale in front of just 380 fans at Victoria Park.
