Newcastle youngster helps Bolton pick up a valuable point

On-loan Magpie Armstrong, 20, was part of the Bolton Wanderers side which drew 3-3 at the Stadium of Light to make it 19 home games without a win in all competitions for the Black Cats.

Simon Grayson paid the price as the Wearsiders parted company with him shortly after the final whistle.

Bolton, bottom of the Championship table, knew that victory would move them above Sunderland and took the lead through former United man Sammy Ameobi.

Lewis Grabban's brace turned the game in the Black Cats' favour but Birtley-born Gary Madine equalised and Karl Henry put the Trotters in front once more.

Patrick McNair's late goal earned Sunderland a point but they could not secure an elusive home victory and remain in the relegation zone. Armstrong played for 84 minutes.

Meanwhile in the Scottish Premiership, Kilmarnock lost 3-0 at home to Hibernian. Stuart Findlay played the whole game.

Matz Sels was an unused substitute as Anderlecht were beaten 5-0 by Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League.
