A handful of Newcastle United first team players will be in action during the international break, with Jamal Lewis’ Northern Ireland set to take on Slovakia in a crucial EURO 2020 play-off clash.

Lewis has been named in Ian Baraclough’s squad for the Path B play-off final, which will determine which side will secure qualification for next summer’s delayed tournament.

That game will take place at Windsor Park in Belfast on Thursday, 12th November, with the 22-year-old also in line to feature for his country when they take on Austria in Vienna in a UEFA Nations League game on Sunday, 15th November.

Next Wednesday, 18th October, Northern Ireland are back in Belfast for another Nations League encounter with Romania at Windsor Park. All three fixtures will kick-off at 7:45pm, with Lewis looking to add to his tally of 12 caps.

Meanwhile, Jeff Hendrick is part of Stephen Kenny’s 25-man Republic of Ireland squad for their three games in the coming fortnight.

Ireland play England in a friendly at Wembley on Thursday, 12th November (8pm kick-off), before taking on Wales in Cardiff on Sunday (5pm) and then Bulgaria in Dublin on Wednesday 18th November (7:45pm) in back-to-back Nations League games, with 54-cap midfielder Hendrick likely to be heavily involved.

Defender Fabian Schär is part of Switzerland’s squad for their upcoming triple-header, but will miss their first competitive fixture through suspension.

They take on Belgium in a friendly in Leuven on Wednesday, 11th November, but Schär will then have to sit out his side’s Nations League game against Spain on Saturday, 14th November in Basel after his red card against Germany last time out.

Switzerland then welcome Ukraine to Lucerne on Tuesday, 17th November, with all three kick-offs set for 7:45pm.

Fellow defender Emil Krafth has been selected by Sweden for their three fixtures, with a friendly in Copenhagen against Denmark first up on Wednesday, 11th November (6:30pm kick-off).

They follow that up with Nations League encounters with Croatia in Stockholm on Saturday, 14th November and France in Paris on Tuesday, 17th November (both 7:45pm), with Krafth looking to add to his current total of 23 appearances for his country.

And Miguel Almirón could also be in action after he was named in the Paraguay squad for their World Cup qualifiers against Argentina in Buenos Aires at midnight UK time on Thursday, 12th November and Bolivia in Asuncion on Tuesday, 17th November, with kick-off set for 11pm.

Winger Ryan Fraser, meanwhile, has withdrawn from the Scotland squad to take on Serbia, Slovakia and Israel through injury.
