Sean Neave netted a hat-trick as Newcastle United Under-18s secured a dramatic 5-4 win in the Under-18 Premier League North on Saturday afternoon.

The Toon teenagers netted twice in the opening 14 minutes at Thorp Arch through goals from Joe Brayson and Logan Watts before Freddie Lane's strike halved the deficit for the hosts.

Neave continued his bright goalscoring form at under-18 level as the England Under-17 international netted twice in the space of three minutes before Lewis Pirie netted on the stroke of half-time in an action-packed first-half.

Newcastle's youngsters found themselves on level terms through efforts by Lewis Pickles and Pirie, the latter scoring from the penalty spot, before Neave completed his hat-trick, his seventh goal in his opening four league matches, in the closing stages as Chris Moore's side prevailed in a nine-goal thriller.
