The versatile 28-year-old, who made 27 league appearances as Newcastle lifted the Sky Bet Championship title last season, has signed a three-year contract with the Whites.

He joined the Magpies from Ajax in August 2012, making more than 150 appearances in all competitions and scoring three goals.
