Newcastle United Women manager Becky Langley was in a buoyant mood following the Magpies' 4-2 comeback win against York City Ladies on Sunday

The FA Women's National League Division One North fixture was played out in front of 4,129 supporters at Kingston Park, as United recovered from an early setback to earn an important three points and keep pace with league leaders Durham Cestria.

Following the match, Langley reflected on the sheer number of fans who came out to cheer on the Lady Magpies.

She said: "Four thousand fans was absolutely incredible - what a turnout.

"There were actually more fans at our game than at Arsenal v Man City in the WSL. That was just absolutely fantastic, to see the Newcastle fans come out in those numbers."

Despite falling behind after just six minutes, and going in at half-time locked at 2-2, Langley's side rallied in the second period and emerged 4-2 winners thanks to goals from Bianca Owens, Millie Bell, Georgia Gibson and Katie Barker.

Midfield duo Anna Soulsby and Rachel Lee returned from long-term injuries during the second half too, along with defender Ellen Packham, and Langley said: "I'm absolutely delighted for them.

"They've worked so hard on their rehab. Anna Soulby and Rachel Lee were both out for even longer and they've been really resilient and I'm really pleased for them."

Looking ahead, the Newcastle Women boss believes that the determination shown by Newcastle in recent weeks is a good sign, stating that "the sky is the limit" for her players.

"Coming from behind shows great character from the team," she said. "(It shows) that we have the desire to go for longer and harder and come back from a goal deficit.

"However we would like to start games a bit quicker and on the front foot so that we're not going a goal behind.

"The sky is the limit for this side. We want to keep kicking on, we want to keep taking each game as it comes and making sure that we are focusing on our own performances every game and looking at the present rather than looking too far ahead."

Newcastle United Women take on Middlesbrough Women at Kingston Park on Tuesday. Kick-off is at 7.45pm and tickets, priced at £3 for adults and £1 for juniors and concessions, are available here.
