Cestria defeated United on penalties in the FA Women's National League (FAWNL) Cup on Sunday and emerged as 2-1 victors at Maiden Castle in Wednesday night's FAWNL Division One North fixture, leaving the Lady Magpies two points off league leaders Leeds United after seven matches.

But while these results were not what Langley wanted, her message was to "reflect, recharge and get ready to go again" ahead of a two-week period without a league fixture for Newcastle.

"The chances we created were excellent, but in 16 attempts on target it is very disappointing that we haven't managed to score more," she said when analysing her side's midweek performance against Cestria.

"We created enough chances to win multiple games and the opposition had limited opportunities, but they were clinical in those moments.

"But I'm not panicking. There are three-quarters of the season left to play. We give absolutely everything on and off the pitch and that will continue."

The Lady Magpies travel to South Yorkshire on Sunday for a friendly with Sheffield United Women's under-21s. Following that, Langley's side are back at home on Sunday, 23rd October, hosting Gateshead Rutherford Ladies in the Vitality Women's FA Cup at Kingston Park.

The Newcastle boss will no doubt be hoping that United's supporters can emulate the turnout of the previous fixtures at the home of Newcastle Falcons, and she reiterated the need for her side to refocus and take each game as it comes, no matter the competition.

"There's a lot of football to be played yet," insisted Langley. "Whatever the result, we are a team, and we continue to strive to advance.

"It is important that we all stick together. The league isn't won or lost based on the last two results. It's a long old season and we are ready to go again."
