Alexander Isak's impressive finish against Aston Villa has been nominated for the Budweiser Premier League Goal of the Month award for August.

The Swedish striker netted twice in the Magpies’ 5-1 thrashing of Aston Villa on the opening day of the 2023/24 campaign, with his second strike against the Villans earning a Premier League Goal of the Month nomination.

The 23-year-old forward dispossessed Villa defender Ezri Konsa before showing great composure to brilliantly dink the ball beyond World Cup winning goalkeeper Emiliano Martínez in front of the Gallowgate End.

Isak, who was nominated for last season’s Premier League Hublot Young Player of the Season award, features on an eight-man shortlist including Arsenal’s Bukayo Saka, Jarrod Bowen of West Ham United, Sheffield United’s Gustavo Hamer, Kaoru Mitoma of Brighton & Hove Albion, Liverpool’s Luis Diaz, Raheem Sterling of Chelsea and Brentford’s Kevin Schade.

Supporters can vote for the winner here, with the vote closing at midday on Monday, 11th September. The winner will be announced on Friday, 15th September.
