Find out where and when Newcastle United's World Cup stars will be in action in November and December

Here's our guide to when and where the Magpies' internationals will be playing during the break from domestic action:

Callum Wilson, Nick Pope and Kieran Trippier

The Newcastle United trio have all been included in Gareth Southgate's squad for the tournament - which will be forward Wilson's first at international level.

The Magpies' number nine's last cap for the Three Lions came in October 2019 but he could add to his tally of four appearances and one goal for England in Qatar this month, with his call-up a reward for his fine showings for Eddie Howe's side this term.

Pope and Trippier, meanwhile, were both part of the squad which reached the semi-finals at the 2018 World Cup in Russia, with Pope currently sitting on ten caps and full back Trippier having amassed 37 - with one goal, in the 2018 semi-final loss to Croatia.

England will face Iran, the USA and Wales in Group B later in November.

Fabian Schär

A big part of the Premier League's best defence and a regular for his country, Fabian Schär's call-up for Switzerland is no surprise - but confirmation came on Wednesday morning.

The 30-year-old has missed just one league game for the Magpies this term - the 2-1 defeat at Liverpool - and hasn't been on the losing side for United this season, while he scored a spectacular goal in the opening day win over Nottingham Forest.

Born in Wil, Schär has 72 Rossocrociati caps, and helped the Swiss reach the quarter-finals of Euro 2020. In Qatar, Murat Yakin's men will take on Cameroon, Serbia and Bruno Guimarães' Brazil in Group G.

Bruno Guimarães

The United midfielder, who has been in outstanding form for Eddie Howe's side this term, has been named in Brazil's squad for the World Cup finals - but there is no room for fellow Newcastle man Joelinton.

Brazil boss Tite watched the Magpies' 4-0 win over Aston Villa at St. James' Park last month and has opted to include Guimarães, who currently has eight international caps and one goal to his name as well as some prior tournament success - he was part of his country's Olympic squad that won gold in 2021.

But the uncapped Joelinton, who has also starred for Howe's third-placed team this term, misses out on a Seleção squad place.

Tite's charges face Serbia, Switzerland and Cameroon in Group G.

Garang Kuol

Australian youngster Kuol, who will link up with the Magpies in January, has been included in the Socceroos' squad for the upcoming finals.

The 18-year-old forward - currently with Central Coast Mariners - has only been capped once by Australia, but manager Graham Arnold has opted to take him to Qatar.

"Garang has shown how he can change a game," said Arnold. "He has zero fear and he wants to entertain."
