Entering the stage to the Champions League theme, the Seventeen Going Under star wore a vintage Magpies training top throughout the gig, while his band were all in black and white - as were most of the audience which packed the pitch and stands, accompanied by Wor Flags.
Support came from Hector Gannet, Holly Humberstone and Inhaler before Fender's stunning set, which was enjoyed by the likes of Alan Shearer, Newcastle United co-owner Amanda Staveley and current players Dan Burn, Sean and Matty Longstaff, Paul Dummett and Mark Gillespie, as well as Newcastle United Women players including Katie Barker and Daisy Burt and thousands of other music-lovers.
The likes of the Rolling Stones, Bruce Springsteen, Queen, Ed Sheeran, Bob Dylan and Rod Stewart have played at St. James' Park in years gone by, and this was another memorable night of live music at the iconic venue in the heart of the city.
