Howe guided the Magpies to impressive wins over Southampton and Chelsea respectively just prior to the break in domestic action for the World Cup in Qatar, and his side then picked up where they left off last month with an emphatic Boxing Day win at Leicester City before bringing the curtain down on an excellent 2022 with a goalless draw at home to Leeds United on New Year's Eve.
United netted a total of eight goals in their four league games across November and December, conceding just once as they ensured they would start 2023 in the top three.
Howe is one of four managers to have been shortlisted for the award, along with Arsenal's Mikel Arteta, Brentford's Thomas Frank and Liverpool's Jurgen Klopp.
