Howe guided the Magpies to six wins from their seven games during the month, including the 5-1 victory at West Ham, the 6-1 thrashing of Tottenham Hotspur at St. James' Park and the 4-1 triumph at Everton.

The Magpies also saw off Manchester United, Brentford and Southampton, netting an astonishing 22 goals in April and conceding only eight as they rose to third place in the table ahead of the run-in.

Also nominated alongside Howe are Unai Emery of Aston Villa, Pep Guardiola of Manchester City, Roy Hodgson of Crystal Palace and Bournemouth's Gary O'Neil.
