Dublin-born Hendrick - who has won 54 caps for his country since making his debut against Poland under Giovanni Trappatoni in February 2013 - signed a four-year contract with the Magpies on Monday, having made 139 appearances in four seasons at Burnley and helped the Clarets qualify for the Europa League in 2017/18.
In his first interview with NUFC TV earlier this week, Hendrick revealed that he had been in touch with Clark, Newcastle United's 2016/17 Player of the Season, before putting pen to paper amid interest from a host of clubs across Europe.
And 30-year-old Clark, who played alongside Hendrick for Ireland at Euro 2016, is confident that Hendrick will be a great addition to Steve Bruce's squad.
"First of all, he's a great lad - he works hard, he knows the league, he's played in it for a number of years now, and he's got international experience," Clark told nufc.co.uk. "He knows what it takes to play in the Premier League and I think he'll bring a lot to this team.
"He works hard and he's good technically as well. He's got that attitude of never giving up and I think that's what the fans want to see. We've seen over the last few years in games when all the lads have been right at it and the crowd have got behind us, and they obviously appreciate that. I think that's what it takes to do well up here."
Hendrick originally joined up with his new team mates at their training camp in Yorkshire, and trained at the club's Benton base on Friday ahead of Saturday's friendly against Barnsley.
"He's had a couple of days training now and he's getting involved," added Clark, who has made 89 appearances for United - scoring ten goals from central defence - since arriving from Aston Villa four years ago.
"I think he's just eager to get involved in a game - and hopefully tomorrow we'll see a bit more of him."
