The Cleveland official has been tasked with taking charge of the Tyne-Wear derby at the Stadium of Light, with the young Magpies set to take on the League One side for a place in the quarter-finals.
The fixture will be Harrington’s 18th of the campaign so far, with the majority of his previous appointments having come in the Championship.
He has also overseen League One, FA Cup and Carabao Cup fixtures, and has dished out a total of 60 yellow cards so far this term.
Harrington has only issued one red in 2018/19, though, and that came in the Carabao Cup tie between Leeds United and Preston in August when he dismissed North End’s Ryan Ledson.
He will be assisted by Paul Hodskinson and Mark Dwyer on Wearside, with Anthony Backhouse the fourth official.
