It's a bitter-sweet feeling for Newcastle United Women midfielder Hannah Greenwood, who's enjoyed a standout 2023/24 campaign and doesn't want it to end on Sunday

United travel to face West Bromwich Albion Women for their final game in the FA Women's National League Northern Premier Division having already secured promotion to the Women's Championship, and know they'll be be backed by a sizeable away following at the Valley Stadium in Redditch.

There have been numerous memorable moments throughout the campaign and Greenwood has been a mainstay in everything United have achieved over the past nine months.

"It's been an amazing season with so many highs and only a few lows," Greenwood told newcastleunited.com.

"I'd love it if we could just keep on playing for longer but we will look to go out on a high this Sunday.

"It's crazy (how many fans are set to come down to West Brom) especially when we've already won the league, so for them to still want to come down and support us is great."

Having signed from Durham Women in the summer, Greenwood has racked up the fourth most minutes in the United squad this term, playing in numerous positions and becoming a dependable player under Becky Langley.

Greenwood has never been fazed at performing in different roles, having done so from a young age.

"Throughout my career I've always been asked to play in different positions," she added. "I've had to play at centre-back, central midfield and even filled in at full-back on the odd occasion.

"I don't mind it and I actually enjoy it. As long as I'm out on the pitch helping the team I'll play wherever - up front or even in goal."

United were held to a 0-0 draw last time out away to Halifax Women, but Greenwood is keen to make amends for that result and end off a magnificent season in the perfect manner.

"Obviously, we were frustrated after the Halifax game," United's number 15 said. "We all just want to go out there and give a good account of ourselves.

"Our fans have been amazing and we want to show them and the club what we are all about and hopefully allow the supporters to enjoy us playing one last time and go out on a high."
