Hannah Greenwood was delighted to help Newcastle United Women take another step towards the team's ultimate goal of winning the FA Women's National League Northern Premier Division title last weekend

Goals from Katie Barker, Georgia Gibson, Jasmine McQuade and Bridget Galloway were enough to blow Stoke City Women away and record an emphatic 4-1 away victory.

Greenwood has become one of the regulars under Becky Langley this season, playing both midfield and defence, but United's combative and consistent number 15 is solely focused on helping the team achieve their aims.

"We're really happy with the performance and the result," Greenwood told nufc.co.uk post-match. "The three points take us closer to achieving our goal of winning the league."

Despite scoring four goals and maintaining their dominant lead at the top of the table, Greenwood was keen to emphasise the demands United's players place on each other as they go in search of a second league title in two seasons.

And she admitted that failing to keep a clean sheet - Heidi Logan struck for Stoke with ten minutes left at the Emerys Stadium on Sunday - was something United must learn from.

"We set ourselves very high standards and goals that we want to achieve," Greenwood said. "Obviously, the main goal is to win the league but every week we want to be very professional about how we do things.

"We want to maximise everything we can, keeping clean sheets and scoring goals.

"We conceded a goal which we're a little bit disappointed about but we'll look at it, learn from it and keep going."

United have just six matches left to play in the league and are nine points clear at the summit, with their title destiny in their own hands despite teams behind them having games in hand on the Lasses.

Langley's high-flying side are away to Stourbridge Women this weekend and Greenwood added: "I'm really enjoying my football at the moment. I just want to keep performing and help the team win the league.

"Then we can hopefully really enjoy that moment when it comes at the end of the season."
