The Newcastle United winger has been in sparkling form for the Magpies, bagging United's winner against Arsenal before netting another goal and grabbing an assist in his side's 4-1 thrashing of Chelsea last weekend.

The 22-year-old is part of a six-man shortlist for the prize, along with Jeremy Doku of Manchester City, Harry Maguire of Manchester United and Raheem Sterling of Chelsea.

Thomas Kaminski of Luton Town and Marcus Tavernier of Bournemouth are also nominated.
