Former Newcastle United defender Curtis Good has completed a move to A-League side Melbourne City.

The 25-year-old, who was released by the Magpies in the summer, has penned a one-year deal with Warren Joyce’s men after a successful trial with the club.

Australian centre half Good returns to his homeland after six years at St. James’ Park, in which time he made just two first team appearances – against Morecambe in the Capital One Cup in August 2013, and against Oxford United in the FA Cup in January 2017.

He also spent time out on loan at Bradford City – where he played in the 2014 Capital One Cup final against Swansea City at Wembley – and Dundee United, where his form earned him a first senior cap for Australia.

Good played for Melbourne Heart, as City used to be known, before making the switch to England in 2012.

Another former United player, Owen Gallacher, has linked up with Championship outfit Nottingham Forest.

The 19-year-old – son of former Newcastle man John – has joined Forest having featured regularly for their second string in the early months of the campaign.
