Young defender Stuart Findlay has joined Scottish Premiership side Kilmarnock on loan.

The 21-year-old will stay at Rugby Park until January 2018, becoming the fourth United player to have spent time on loan at Killie this year, after Freddie Woodman, Sean Longstaff and Callum Roberts enjoyed stints with the East Ayrshire outfit during the second half of last season.

It will be the centre back’s second spell with Kilmarnock, having spent time there on loan from Celtic during the 2015/16 campaign.

Findlay – a Scotland under-21 international – joined the Magpies in July 2016, and went on to make 30 appearances for the club’s under-23 side last term, scoring once.

He also made his first team debut for Newcastle in the 3-1 FA Cup replay win over Birmingham City at St. James’ Park in January this year.
