After Newcastle United completed the signing of Joelinton from TSG 1899 Hoffenheim for an undisclosed club record fee, we take a further look at the profile of the 22-year-old forward.

- Joelinton Cassio Apolinário de Lira was born on August 14, 1996 in the Brazilian city of Aliança, located in the state of Pernambuco.

- Starting his footballing career with Brazilian outfit Sport Club do Recife in his homeland, Joelinton was promoted to their senior squad at the tender age of 16 before going on to score three times in 12 outings.

- After joining 1899 Hoffenheim at the age of 18, Joelinton spent two years on loan at Austrian side Rapid Vienna from 2016 to 2018, scoring 21 goals in 79 appearances for the Green-Whites.

- Joelinton played all 10 of Rapid Vienna's Europa League matches during the 2016/17 season, netting in a 3–2 win over Genk as well as a 1–1 draw with Athletic Bilbao.

- Joelinton registered 11 goals and nine assists in 35 games in all competitions for Bundesliga outfit Hoffenheim last season, who finished ninth in Germany's top tier.

- The Brazilian forward netted a dramatic last minute equaliser in Hoffenheim's 3-3 draw with Lyon in the 2018/19 Champions League group stages.

- Joelinton, who stands at 6'1", also has international experience with Brazil after earning four caps for the under-17 national team, scoring twice.
