Newcastle United Under-18s will face a home tie against Aston Villa in the quarter-finals of the FA Youth Cup.

Neil Winskill's side reached the last eight of the prestigious competition for the first time since 2016/17 following a 3-2 extra-time victory against Watford at St. James' Park on Sunday afternoon.

Lucas De Bolle and Dylan Stephenson both struck in the first-half of the fifth round tie but United's youngsters were pegged back twice by the Hornets before captain Elliot Anderson netted a delightful 120th minute free-kick for the young Magpies.

Their reward is a home draw against Aston Villa, who comfortably progressed into the quarter-final stages following an emphatic 9-0 win against Burton Albion on Wednesday afternoon.

The date and venue for the tie will be revealed in due course.

Since the tournament's formation back in 1952, Newcastle have won the FA Youth Cup twice, in 1962 and 1985, and will be aiming to reach the last four of the tournament for the first time since 2009/10.

A side featuring Paul Dummett, Sammy Ameobi, James Tavernier, Haris Vuckic, Jak Alnwick and Phil Airey - who all went on to feature for United's first-team - lost 2-1 on aggregate, over two legs, to Villa.
