Saturday’s edition of UNITED – the Magpies’ official matchday programme – features an exclusive, eight-page interview with Matt Ritchie.

Ritchie chats in detail with the programme about his reunion with Eddie Howe, having worked with the Magpies’ new head coach at Bournemouth for several years, and provides his own take on United’s current situation.

Ex-goalkeeper Mike Mahoney is the latest former Magpie to take part in Q&A Revisited, in which we bring back to light some of the quick-fire interviews undertaken by United players over the years and then see how many of their answers remain the same in the present day.

This week’s guest column comes courtesy of IDLES bass guitarist Adam Devonshire, with the punk rockers’ latest album, CRAWLER, released to critical acclaim a short time ago. Meanwhile, Toonament History – the brand new feature in which we take a look back at Newcastle’s connections to football’s two biggest major tournaments – continues with a look at USA ‘94.

Club Historian Paul Joannou remembers the late Martin Burleigh’s friendship with former Burnley star David Thomas, and also looks back at the brief playing career of new United Under-23s coach Elliott Dickman. And, in his regular 140 Years of Action piece, Paul looks back at the life of Andy Cunningham – Newcastle’s first ever manager.

Further nostalgia comes courtesy of Stan Gate in Programme Matters, with Lucas De Bolle providing this week’s Academy Diary. Elsewhere, we look back at Newcastle United Women’s fine FA Cup victory at Salford on Sunday, with reaction from Ellen Packham and Lloyd Miller.

And, as always, we’ll have all you need to know about our visitors, Burnley, as well as skipper Jamaal Lascelles’ thoughts ahead of the game and Eddie Howe’s latest set of notes.

If you’re not able to make it on Saturday, you can still order your programme online – available on Curtis Sport’s website here.
