One of the Magpies’ stars of the campaign so far, Nick Pope, takes centre stage for Saturday’s issue of UNITED – Newcastle’s official matchday programme – as Eddie Howe’s side welcome Brentford to St. James’ Park.

The England international ’keeper is in line to make his 150th Premier League appearance on Saturday, and chats exclusively to UNITED about his bright start to life on Tyneside, as well as his recent experiences with the Three Lions.

Sky Sports presenter Pete Graves provides his latest column, while United Backstage, the feature in which we shine a light on some of those working behind the scenes at the club, continues with a look at Newcastle United Foundation youth violence project officer Nick Cassidy, who bids to help tackle crime by working with some of our region’s most vulnerable youngsters.

Frontman Chris Wood is the latest to dip his hand into The Toon Tombola, discussing Baileys, beards and Dobby the house elf. Irish youngster Alex Murphy provides this week’s Academy Diary, while Newcastle United Women’s Gillian Oyos – who grew up close to the Virginia-Tennessee border in the US – reflects on her start to life on Tyneside.

As always, club historian Paul Joannou and regular columnist Stan Gate provide four pages each; Paul looks back at the creation of St. James’ Park’s new Leazes Stand in the 1920s, as well as one of the great Tyne-Wear derbies, with Stan bringing all sorts of black and white insignia back to light in Toon Collectables. Toon Voyage!, meanwhile, a new series looking at some of the most significant geographical locations in United’s history, continues with a look at Rothbury Terrace near Chillingham Road, where Newcastle East End’s directors made the call to up sticks to St. James’.

Furthermore, there’s a message from the club’s chairman, Yasir Al-Rumayyan, three pages for Junior Magpies, boss Eddie Howe and skipper Jamaal Lascelles’ thoughts ahead of the game and lots of extra reading material.
