Sven Botman adorns the front cover of Saturday evening’s issue of UNITED – the Magpies’ official matchday programme – as Eddie Howe’s side welcome Liverpool to St. James’ Park.

Over the course of an exclusive, in-depth interview – his first since his summer switch from Lille – Botman reflects on his time in black and white so far, as well as his road to St. James’ in the first place – via Ajax’s famed academy, a loan spell at Heerenveen and the French outfit.

Sky Sports presenter Pete Graves provides his latest column, while United Backstage, the feature in which we shine a light on some of those working behind the scenes at the club, continues with a look at SJP’s deputy head groundsman, Andy Tully.

Jamaal Lascelles is the latest to dip his hand into The Toon Tombola, discussing leopards, lions and Call of Duty. Ex-Reds youngster Remi Savage provides this week’s Academy Diary, while Newcastle United Women’s Rachel Lee tells us a little more about herself.

As always, club historian Paul Joannou and regular columnist Stan Gate provide four pages each; Paul looks back at something of a forgotten Anfield classic between the two clubs – long, long before their famous Nineties encounters – while Stan brings all sorts of black and white insignia back to light in Toon Collectables. Toon Voyage!, meanwhile, a new series looking at some of the most significant geographical locations in the Magpies’ history, continues with a look at the County Hotel.

Furthermore, there’s ten pages on visitors Liverpool, four more for Junior Magpies, boss Howe and skipper Lascelles’ thoughts ahead of the game and lots of extra reading material.

UNITED will be on sale around the ground, priced at £3.50.
