Fabian Schär's Switzerland were beaten 3-0 by an impressive Italy in their second game of Euro 2020 on Wednesday evening

It was the Rossocrociati's first defeat in ten matches, a run stretching back to November last year, and on this evidence one suspects they won't be the last side to be outclassed by Roberto Mancini's men this summer.

Manuel Locatelli scored a goal in each half at Stadio Olimpico in Rome before Ciro Immobile added the third late on. Schär again started in the centre of the Swiss defence and came off in the 57th minute, moments before former Newcastle defender Kevin Mbabu was also withdrawn.

The result means Italy are already through to the last 16 - but Switzerland still have it all to do if they are to follow suit.

Having drawn their opening game against Wales last Saturday, Vladimir Petkovic's side must now beat Turkey in Baku in their final Group A match on Sunday to keep their hopes alive.

On Friday, Martin Dúbravka's Slovakia take on Emil Krafth's Sweden in Group E at 2pm (BST) before Ryan Fraser will hope to be involved for Scotland against England at Wembley in Group D at 8pm (BST).
